ABSTRACT
Institute for Building Science and Technology with the development of Vietnam
building standards according to the tendency of
International integration (pp.3-5)
A/Prof. Dr. cao duy tien,
Dr.Vu thi ngoc van
In
this paper, the authors introduce the development ofsome Vietnam
building standards, using Eurocodes as the basis,
according to the tendency of International integration. The Vietnam building
standards developed based on Eurocodes mentioned in the papers are: Eurocode 0
(Basis of structural design), Eurocode 1 (Actions on Structures), Eurocode 2
(Design of Concrete Structures), Eurocode 3 (Design of Steel
Structures),Eurocode 6 (Design of Masonry Structures), Eurocode 7 (Geotechnical
Design), Eurocode 8 (Design of Structures for Earthquake Resistance) and many
other relevant Eurocodes. General principles for developing Vietnam
building standards using Euroceds are also specified in
the paper.
Solutions
for improving the effectiveness of quality management of building structures
(pp.6-8)
Eng. Cao Van Ha
In
this paper, the author points out the weak points and their causes in respect
of the quality management of building structures in Vietnam
in different aspects such as: soil investigation, terrain
surveying, design, estimation of quotation, construction and operation
stages,.. and proposes the main solutions for improving the effectiveness of
the quality management of building structures in Vietnam
.
Some
researched problems when developing the standard Design of seismic resistant
building structures, TCVN 375:2006 (pp.9-16)
Prof.
Dr Sc.Nguyen Dang Bich, Eng.
Le khanh linh
This
paper presents the problems that have to be solved when developing the Vietnam
standard TCVN 375:2006: Design of seismic – resistant building structures on
the basis of adoption of Eurocode 8, including: (1) seismic zoning map, (2)
selection of the curvature of elastic response spectrum (type 1) and (3) the
factor of importance of building structures.
The
authors would also like to recommend that the standard TCVN 375:2006 contains
many new and modern rules, specifications, and concepts so the user should be
provided with a training course to understand thoroughly the standard before
applying it to the calculation and design of seismic-resistant building
structures.
The
surveying engineering work in construction of tunnels (pp.17- 21)
Dr.Ngo van hoi
In
this paper, the author presents the concepts of tunnels, the history of
construction of tunnels in some countries all over the world and that in Vietnam
. The author also presents methods for construction of
tunnels and the important role of surveying engineering in construction of
tunnels, from topography surveying for the design of the tunnel’s line to the
monitoring of the tunnel’s deformation during putting the tunnel in to
operation.
Fire
tests for building materials and structural elements and their application to Vietnam
(pp.22- 27)
MEng.hoang anh giang
This
paper presents the necessity to perform the fire tests for building materials
and structural elements and some opinions by the author on the ability to apply
these fire tests to building material and structural elements in Vietnam
for the purpose of fire safety of building structures.
Learning
about the nature and the ability to improve the quality of traditional paint
(pp.28-34)
Dr.Tran
minh duc, Eng. bui thi nghi
When
talking about traditional paint, people often thing of the wax from wax-tress
only. In fact, traditional paint can be constituted from the wax and many other
ingredients. Normally, there are two ingredients in traditional wax: asphalt
vanish and oil-paint. Therefore, the properties of traditional paint depends
much on the its compositions. This paper introduces a study on the nature of traditional
paint and the ability to improve it.
Influence
of the chloride concentration, humidity and thickness of concrete on the
corrosion of steel reinforcement (pp.35-41)
Dr. hoang thi bich thuy, Eng. pham ngoc hieu
Vietnam is a humid tropical country with over 3,200km coastline which favours
corrosion of metals. The number of marine steel and reinforced concrete
structures, such as oil rigs, habours, piers, . . . is increasing more and
more, especially in the very period of developing marine industries.
Reinforced concrete has been widely used for construction. However these
structures gradually degrades due to corrosion of steel reinforcements induced
by ingress of aggressive agents. Ingress of chloride from marine environment is
the main cause of corrosion of steel in concrete which results in damages to
the structures after a short time of operation.
This
paper presents a study on the influence of chloride concentration, humidity and
thickness of concrete cover on the corrosion of steel in concrete. Experiments
were carried out with conditions similar to marine environment. The influence
of above factors on the corrosion of steel reinforcment was studied by
potentio-dynamic method, linear polarization in combination with observation of
steel surface after testing period.
Geological
information and possibility to use probability models for geological risk study
(pp. 42- 45)
Dr. Sc. Tran
Manh Lieu
This
paper analyze the possibility to quantify geological information, the random
nature and relative (inheritable) property of geological information and the
possibility to use appropriate mathematical models (predetermination model,
Markov and Bernuly chains) for evaluating, predicting geological risk and
process.
Applying
Monte-Carlo simulation for the construction schedule in Vietnam
(pp.46- 52)
MEng.Lai
Hai Dang,MEng.Luu Truong Van
The schedule delay is popular for various
construction projects that cause considerable loss to project parties. It is
widely accepted that construction project schedule plays a key role in project
management due to its influence on the project success. Thus, it is important
to quantify probabilities of project completion on time for improving project
management. This paper describes that how Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) can be applied
to simulate the construction schedule performance and to estimate the
probability of project completion under uncertainty conditions. A flow
chart was developed so as to run MCS for construction schedule of building
projects. Triangle distribution tended to be appropriate for the probability
distribution function (PDF) of construction activities. The new hospital of Medical University of HCM City was
used as a case study to validate the model using applied software developed by
authors.
