Technical assessment
about prefabricated buildings designed and constructed by Vinaconex Xuan Mai company
(pp.3-9)
Dr. nguyen hong ha, Dr. le truong
giang et al
To implement the
directions by Ministry of Construction on the Program of social housing for
workers, students and low-income people living in the urban areas, the
Institute for Building Science and Technology IBST) has established an experts’
team in order to assess the designs that can be well applied to the
construction of social buildings as required by the Program.
In this paper, the authors present a technical assessment about prefabricated
buildings with 5 stories and 9 stories designed and constructed by the
Vinaconex Xuan Mai company in terms of architecture, structure, foundation,
technical systems and materials used.
Analysis of technical –
economical and social features of some housing models for workers, students and
low-income people (pp. 10-17)
Dr. nguyen

ANH TUAN, Arch. TRINH THU HUONG
To implement the
policy by the Vietnamese Party and State about social housing problem for
workers, students and low-income people living in the urban areas, Ministry of
Construction has issued some housing models for workers, students and
low-income people according to the decisions No. 131/QD-BXD and 14/2008/QD-BXD.
In this paper, the authors present an analysis about technical –
economical- social features of these housing models in order to point out the
feasibility of applying these models to the construction of buildings for the
above occupants.
Studying the temperature to burn ancient bricks
used to build the Phu Dien Champa tower in Thua Thien Hue province (pp.18-24)
Dr. tran
minh duc
The burning
temperature applied to bricks in general and ancient bricks used for building
Champa towers play an important role in ensuring the durability of
bricks. At present, there are many different opinions about the burning
temperature applied to Champa towers that are not consistent with the existing
state of the brick. In addition, these opinions are not wholly agreed in the
process of restoration of bricks for conservation of ancient Champa towers.
In this paper, the author presents a study on the burning temperature applied
to ancient bricks used for building the Champa towers in the past. The study
was conducted during restoring the Phu Dien Champa tower that is located in Phu
Dien commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien- Hue province.
The basis and some
solutions of energy saving for the ventilation and air conditioning system
Dr. Vu van dai, Eng. nguyen le minh cong, Eng. doan van dong
Based on basic
orientations on energy saving, which are applicable to the ventilation and
air-conditioning system of buildings and constructions, the authors have
studied and proposed some solutions on energy saving during the process of
design and operation of the ventilation and air-conditioning system.
In addition, the authors have also proposed some orientations for exploiting
clean energy sources used to supplement the traditional energy sources that are
not satisfying the increasing demand of the mankind.
Analysis of early-age cracking in restrained ring
specimens of high performance concrete using finite element method (pp. 30-35)
Dr. Nguyen
quang phu, MEng. DO Viet Thang, Prof. jiang linhua, Prof. liu
jiaping
When the use of
high-performance concrete has increased, problems with early-age cracking have
become prominent phenomenon. This paper is to present a numerical analytical
study using a finite element method (FEM) to predict cracking of
high-performance concrete in restrained ring specimens. This method estimates
the residual stress development and quantifies the material’s potential for
cracking with two concrete mixtures of the water-binder ratios are 0.22 and
0.40. The restrained ring test using FEM can be used to provide quantitative
information on early-age cracking of high-performance concrete..
Studying and applying the
technology of bioreactor to the treatment of urban waste in Vietnam (pp.
36-40)
MEng. nguyen
son lam
Land fill (refuse disposal site)
operated according to the technology of bioreactor has been studied and
widely applied in many countries all over the world such as the USA, England,
Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand,.. since the late 1990s and this technology
has resulted in a high effectiveness in treating the urban solid waste.
In this paper, the author presents some experimental research results about
treating the urban waste in Vietnam and some considerations that should be paid
attention to when designing and operating this technology. The experimental
research results show that bioreactor is the technology much suitable for
treating urban solid waste in Vietnam.
Calculation of plane perpendicular
co-ordinate based on horizontal cylindrical gird with the same angle, using
complex function (pp. 41-46)
Eng. Vu van doan, Eng. diem cong trang
Most of popular
formulas for calculation of plane perpendicular co-ordinate based on
horizontal cylindrical gird with the same angle in Vietnam are based on
expansion of exponential function of Taylor string. The shortcomings of
formulae using exponential functions is its dependence on starting points of
calculation of derivatives, number of terms of the string, the converging speed
of the string as well as number of unused terms in string. Moreover, the
accuracy of the result depends of the width of the segment of the grid.
By this article, the authors introduce the formulae using complex function to
transform from surveying co-ordinate into plane perpendicular co-ordinate in
order to make good to the above shortcomings, enhance accuracy and improve
efficiency when it is applied to the real life.
Control the tilt of
tower-shaped structures by external co-ordinate measuring method (pp. 48-51)
MEng. le
van hung
In this paper, the
author proposed the use of widely applied total stations with the external
co-ordinate measuring method, in combination with the software Tilt OV for
controlling the tilt of tower-shaped structures during the stages of
construction, finishing and operation.
Measuring procedure, the accuracy, data processing, application of the software
Tilt OV are presented in the paper in order to illustrate the application of
this method.
Combination of vacuum preloading and electroosmotic
for improvement of soft soil – an experimental study (pp. 52-60)
Prof.Dr. Wang Baotian, MEng. Vu Manh Quynh
A
laboratory test program was undertaken in order to study the combination of
vacuum preloading and Electroosmotic for soft soil improvement. A testing
apparatus and procedure was developed. Three test series were conducted on
silty clay from Qinhuai River in Nanjing,
China.
The apparatus is able to apply vacuum pressure at the bottom of soil sample and
a direct current electric field simultaneously. The results of experiments have
verified the effectiveness of the combined method for soft soil improvement. A
substantial reduction in water content and increase in dry density as well as
undrained shear strength in comparison with that obtained by vacuum preloading
only would be expected, particularly close to the anode.
The combined method is suitable for reclamation projects like new disposal
ponds where the horizontal configuration of cathodes beneath the soil ground is
possible and the drainage pipes and PVDs system could be installed before the
sludge dredged from seabed or riverbed is filled into the site.
