ABSTRACT
Investigation and causes estimation (pp.3-9)
A/Prof. Dr. TRAN
CHUNG
This paper presents
procedures and necessary techniques when carrying out investigations of the
failures or collapses of construction works. The paper does also presents the
main causes and lessons drawn from the failures/incidence or collapses of the
construction works in Vietnam
during the recent years. Information given in this paper is the research
results and experiences of the author during his direct participation in the
investigations of the construction works.

A/Prof. Dr.
NGUYEN VO THONG
The Vietnam
Institute for Building Science and Technology is conducting the TCVN: 2737:1995
review which is based on the Russian standard: CTO
36554501-015-2008 НАГРУЗКИ И ВОЗДЕЙСТВИЯ. The question is how to
choose standard topographic to fit between the provision of Russian
standard and the practical conditions of Vietnam. This article presents some
analytical results of that choice.
On
effective utilization of bored pile (pp.14-17)
A/Prof. Dr. DOAN THE TUONG
Bored piles are
being used widespreadly in construction practice but evaluated to be of low
economic effectiveness. The paper confirm that bottom cleaning and grouting is
the best solution for effective use of bored piles based on analysing mechanism
of mobilisation of bearing capacity of piles.
A method of reducing ground vibration due to pile
driving (pp. 18-20)
Dr. TRAN DINH
NGOC
A method of
reducing ground vibration due to pile driving by using the heap of soil was
suggested and presented. The results of the calculation and experiment were
also presented.
Survey and assessment of fire damaged reinforced
concrete building structures (pp.21-27)
Dr. NGUYEN CAO DUONG, MEng. HOANG ANH GIANG
Article introduces
general information on the influence of elevated temperature of fire to
mechanical and physical properties of the constituent materials of reinforced
concrete members. In the article, the outline of survey steps as well as the
procedure of data collection and assessment on the damages of fire exposed
structural members are covered also, basing on the example of actual jobs had
been done.
Energy Efficient Lighting Solutions for the
buildings in Vietnam
(pp.28-34)
MEng. NGUYEN SON LAM
In the
mechanical and electrical equipment system (Air-condictioning, lighting, lift,
water supply and others…) serving for operation of the buildings, the lighting
system is one of the most energy consumers in the buildings. Therefore energy
saving for this lighting system results in saving the considerable amount of
electrical energy in the buildings such as Offices, hotels, complex of flats
and commerce…
This paper is presented
the current energy use for lighting and analysed the loss due to the lighting
and recommendations for energy efficient lighting solutions will be made for
the buildings in Vietnam.
Membrane Filtration Application into water
treatment engineering for coastal and island residential areas (pp.35-41)
A/Prof. Dr. TRAN
DUC HA
The rapid
exhaustion of the earth’s fresh water resource is caused by the
population increase, the climate change etc. To sure a sustainable and
safe water supply is necessary for coastal and island residential areas,
especially in a coastal country as Vietnam. The paper introduces a
desalination technologies applicated in sea water treatment for potable water
supply. The development of nano industry opens up a whole possibility
applying nano membrane filter for water supply in a coastal and island
residential areas. Some sea water treatment technologies used nano
filtration (NF) are presented in the paper.
Situation and application of calcium nitrite
inhibitor to protect from chloride – induced corrosion for reinforced concrete
in Vietnam merine
environment (pp.42-45)
Dr. PHAM VAN
KHOAN, Dr. NGUYEN NAM
THANG
Corrosion of steel
reinforcement in concrete structures is the common cause of premature failure.
To improve service life of concrete structures, corrosion inhibitor is one of
the effective measures to prevent chloride included corrosion. Corrosion
inhibitors have been used extensively and successfully in various industries for
nearly 100 years. The use of an inhibitor in concrete is an extension of this
concept. Although there are many inhibitors available, only calcium nitrite has
proven corrosion inhibiting capabilities while enhancing the mechanical
properties of concrete. This paper deals with result the successful application
of calcium nitrite to be a corrosion inhibitor for reinforced concrete
constructions in Vietnam
marine environment.
Set up axial network on high-rise floors in
construction with high accuracy (pp.46-50)
Eng. TRAN NGOC
DONG, Eng. NGUYEN CHI CONG
The article
investigated a combination of vertical projection and total station to set up
axial network on high-rise floors in construction with high accuracy. A
solution of data processing combined vertical projection and total station has
been introduced based on indirect network adjustment Method. Stages of data
processing proved relevant, appropriate and could be suppoted by computing
analysis.
Adjustment of GPS network in the topocentric
coordinate system (pp.51-55)
A/Prof.
Dr. DANG NAM CHINH,
MEng. TRAN DINHTRONG
The baseline components
are
measured in WGS-84 Cartesian coordinate system. For engineering surveys
purposes, GPS networks are usually established in small areas. Therefore, local
topocentric coordinate system can be used for adjustment of GPS network. In
this system, scale of the network is nearly invariable in the coordinate plane
x,y and we also realize common adjustment of GPS vectors and classical
observations using total stations.
